Taiwan Night Markets

On the island of Taiwan, much of the shopping, entertainment and socializing takes place after-dark at the country’s many famous night markets.

In Taiwan, it’s common for many people – young and old – to take an afternoon nap. After all, it’s the subtropics, and the climate can be hot and humid during the day. But after the sun goes down, adults and children alike often walk to the local night market, which is a farmer’s market, arcade, and shopping mall all mixed together. There, you can find some of the culture’s famous street foods—such as stinky tofu, beef noodles, or roast chestnuts.

If you’re ever in Taiwan, do as the locals do and make sure to visit a night market.
