Happy Diwali!

Sunday, October 18, 2009

Diwali, an Indian tradition, begins October 17 and goes on for five days.  The first day is called Dhanteras; the second day is called Choti Diwali / Narak Chaturdasi; the third day is Lakshmi Puja; the fourth day is Padwa & Govardhan Puja; and the fifth and final day is Bhai Duj / Bhaiya Duj / Bhai Dooj.
Diwali is celebrated with a festival of lights and with great enthusiasm by Indians all over the world.  Small clay lamps with oil and a wick are lit in rows all over the house in a lovely display of lights.  To learn more about this beautiful Indian tradition, please visit DiwaliFestival.org and ILoveIndia.comHappy Diwali!
