While I'm not pitching any tents or cooking my meals over an open fire (been there, done that), I have indeed gone camping, except I've gone camping Island Style.  [Insert palm tree swaying in a tropical breeze here.  *Grin*]

Living in a beachfront cottage, swimming with the dolphins in the British Virgin Islands, sailing the day away, inhaling the vibe of St. John's tropical beaches, and taking daily nature walks will all be a part of my 10 night travel & learning adventure as I travel with 8 tw/een girls and 2 staff members to the United States Virgin Islands for CampCaribe 2011

I'll be back before you know it to give you the details, but first I'm going to spend 5 nights decompressing after camp at the Wyndham Sugar Bay Resort on St. Thomas.  I will definitely need it.

In the meantime, if you'd like to see some snapshots while I'm gone, check me out on Facebook and/or Twitter starting April 22!  See ya soon...

Nice site, nice and easy on the eyes and great content too.

Thanks, Anonymous. That means a lot to me. =)

Note to Everyone: When I wrote this post, I had faith that I would be in the US Virgin Islands right now. Unfortunately, my first-ever major sinus infection has me down for the count and I am land-locked. Never in a million years did I think I would be directing my beloved camp program from my desk at home using the very technology that isn't allowed at camp, but alas, here I sit.
I was told that there is some small gift in the midst of my disappointment, but I have yet to find it. What I DO know is that I am far more excited for them than I am sorry for myself.
OBG advocate Tricia Liverpool said it best (on Facebook) and made me smile at the thought: "When you start having camps all over the world you won't be able to be at EVERY one, right?" Yep. She's right. =D

Tracy, so sorry you weren't able to go to the U.S. Virgin Islands. I live in Miami and unfortunately take our wonderful beaches for granted so I hope you're able to reschedule this wonderful vacation soon! I'm sure you will. Get well soon!

Thanks, Manny. I'm not upset about not going to the Virgin Islands; the bigger issue was not being at my camp with the girls. Vacations can be re-scheduled, but I have to wait another year before Spring camp again. But there is always a silver lining because I was able to teach the girls that Travelistas need to be flexible. There's no better way to teach than by example. I can see how you might take your local beaches for granted. I do the same thing here in California. Shame on us! LOL (The older I get, the less I try to take things for granted.)
