OneBrownGirl photographed in Los Angeles (August 2012) for the NOH8 Campaign by celebrity photographer Adam Bouska |
MISSION STATEMENT: The NOH8 Campaign is a charitable organization whose mission is to promote marriage, gender and human equality through education, advocacy, social media, and visual protest.
"[A] photographic silent protest created by celebrity photographer Adam Bouska and partner Jeff Parshley in direct response to the passage of Proposition 8, [p]hotos feature subjects with duct tape over their mouths, symbolizing their voices being silenced by Prop 8 and similar legislation around the world, with 'NOH8' painted on one cheek in protest."
"Four years since its inception, the NOH8 Campaign has grown to nearly 30,000 faces and continues to grow at an exponential rate. The campaign began with portraits of everyday Californians from all walks of life and soon rose to include politicians, military personnel, newlyweds, law enforcement, artists, celebrities, and many more."
FIVE REASONS I POSED:
1. Because human equality matters. A lot.
2. Because I'm a lover and not a hater.
3. Because silent protests are more my style.
4. Because you don't have to be gay/trans to know what it's like to face discrimination.
5. Because I can.

Amazing! Congrats :)
No H8!
Thanks, Gloria! But no congrats are really necessary since the photo opp is open to the public as a fundraiser for the campaign...although it does feel special to have done it. :-) Check out http://www.NOH8Campaign.com when you get a chance. Maybe it's coming to a city near you!
No H8 all the way! I'm amazed that this is something that continues to hit so many barriers! We (Maryland) just voted to allow gay MARRIAGE and I am ecstatic. How can anyone block love with H8? Glad that we're making a difference in ways that we can!
