One of the signs carried at various May Day 2010 immigration rallies
Sometimes, I hang out in My Own Personal Land of La-La where everyone thinks Brown is Beautiful, where the environment is nurtured and safe, where people taking the time to make car bombs use their technical skills for good, and where immigrants (aren't we all?) aren't looked upon any differently than anyone else. And as much as I like to stay current relative to all things Brown, I'm guilty of avoiding - for days at a time - certain issues in the media that weigh heavily on my heart. Oil spills that absolutely ruin our oceans, wildlife and the environment; car bombs in Times Square; immigration laws that negatively target certain ethnic groups; blah. blah. blah. Eventually, I toughen up and brace myself for the details of these horrendous stories and stop what I'm doing to read the news; telling myself the entire time that everything is going to be okay. That good outweighs bad. That the bad news is only a temporary glitch. That surely, we will get ourselves together really soon. That the hundreds of thousands of people that are marching for immigration reform will have an impact. And that my one little voice might one day have an impact too.
